"The discourse of faith with adults must take serious account of their experience of their condition and of the challenges which they have encountered in life. Their questions of faith as well as their needs are many and varied." (par. 172) -- The General Directory for Catechesis, par. 172. Bible and Book Studies: Bible and book studies take numerous forms, from informal groups to multi-month courses. Contact the Faith Formation Office (238-0649 or dirred@goodshepherd-sc.org ) for information on what's currently running. Interested in starting or leading a study? Let us know, and we'll help you get started. Generations in Faith Together (GIFT): GIFT sessions provide intergenerational learning, complete with a meal and activities appropriate to diverse ages and experiences. This reflects our approach to "whole community catechesis" which encourages the members of the parish community to learn from each other. GIFT sessions are held in the fall and the spring, and are open to all members of the parish community. Ministry of Mothers Sharing (MOMS) Inspired by the gospel values expressed in Called and Gifted for the Third Millennium, Reflections of the U.S. Catholic Bishops, the Ministry of Mothers Sharing (MOMS) is an outreach ministry created for mothers of all ages including new mothers, single parent mothers, foster mothers, grandmothers, and godmothers. MOMS mission includes: gathering mothers together to fof mutual support; providing a group experience of learning, praying, and ministering to each other; allowing mothers to grow spiritually in a small faith-sharing group; and, increasing the use of prayer rituals in the home. For more information contact Debbie Vanden Berk, debdvb@yahoo.com. Prayers and Squares: In this prayerful outreach, people in need of special prayer receive hand-made quilts filled with knots that represent hundreds of individual prayers of the Good Shepherd community. The quilts are never a surprise, but can only be given with the permission of the recipient. Quilters can either donate completed quilts, or help craft them through workshops that are held regularly at Good Shepherd for new and experienced quilters of all ages. Once a quilt has been requested, it passes through several of our prayer ministries and is made available for parishioners to tie a knot and say a prayer for the recipient. For more information on requesting a quilt, making quilts or participating in the prayer knots, contact Debbie Vanden Berk, debdvb@yahoo.com. Adult
Faith Formation Committee: Would you like to help in adult faith
formation planning? The Adult Faith Formation committee meets monthly
to plan and evaluate adult education efforts. For more information contact
committee chair, Michele Aukerman, aukerman77@comcast.net.
